The 2010 Pirelli calendar was shot by Terry Richardson on location in Trancoso Brazil at the all-new UXUA Casa hotel. With male model Jesus Luz showing what Brazil has to offer – it’s time for Brazil’s moment in the sun.
The calendar will debut on Nov. 19th in London – just make sure you have your reservation at the Uxua Casa Hotel, the calendar’s location before then. A Pirelli calendar sure beats a postcard.
Located in Trancoso, a colourful fishing village on Brazil’s idyllic Bahian coast, Uxua Casa Hotel guests have access to a one-of-a-kind aventurine quartz swimming pool, a restaurant/lounge, library, gym, and spa as well as capturing perfectly the 2009 zeitgeist for “casual luxury”.
Designer and owner Wilbert Das, conceived UXUA as a tribute to the region of Bahia. Created using local and recycled materials and traditional construction methods, the hotel was realized over a two-year period in personal collaboration with local artisans and builders.
The houses are as unique inside as they are on their exteriors: each is filled with antiques and Bahian art as
well as hand-made furniture and fixtures created on site together with Trancoso craftsmen.
“Casual luxury” is 2009’s travel buzz word and refreshingly turns its back on the sharp edges of austere design hotels of the past.
Three renovated fishermen’s’ houses face directly onto the Quadrado, and the remaining six homes (including a multi-level treehouse made entirely of recycled wood) are nestled around pools in a lush tropical garden of flowers, fruits, and towering coconut, cocoa, and jackfruit trees.
