World-renowned primatologist and environmentalist Jane Goodall turned 75 yesterday.
Her patient observations of Gombe’s chimps–David Greybeard and Flo among many others–enabled her to correct a slew of misunderstandings about chimps prevalent at that time. She discovered chimp were omnivores, not vegetarians, as previously thought.
In 1977, Dr. Goodall established her global nonprofit, The Jane Goodall Institute, which aspires to make a difference in the lives of all living things and their environment. You can take a guided trip to East Africa to explore its diverse ecosystems and see the Gombe chimps firsthand.
JGI also created Roots & Shoots, a global youth-driven network of over 8,000 groups in close to 100 countries working to devise and execute service-learning projects for kids to help animals, the environment, and our human community.
