In an age obsessed with youth and beauty, Daphne Selfe is a welcome reminder that the two are not inextricably linked.
The grandmother is in the 60th year of an extraordinary modelling career thanks to her graceful posture, striking cheekbones and her long, lustrous – and unashamedly grey – hair.
At the age of 80, she is Britain’s oldest catwalk model, gracing runways for Dolce & Gabbana, Tata-Naka and Michiko Koshino.

I’m delighted by your comments on Daphne Selphe who really inspired me years ago–after seeing her in Dolce e Gabbana ads –to write “Forever Cool”. She is my ideal-naturally,absolutely gorgeous. But let’s not forget she’s blessed in many ways.
Interestingly Isaac Mizrahi recently tried to include much older women in his ads (non models) to less successful effect- in my opinion. “Real” women as they age need to address many challenges in order to look their best, and can rarely still wear Dolce or even the colorful clothes Mizrahi recently designed, and presented on these gals included in ads for Liz Clairborne.
Best,
