Jack Weil
Inventor of the snaps on cowboy shirts.
107 when he died.
He claimed to have quit smoking at age 60, drinking at age 90 and eating red meat at 100.
Had a shot of Jack Daniel’s twice a week for “medicinal purposes,” specifically, to keep his blood thin.
“The West is not a place, it is a state of mind.”

Real cowboys — the ones that rode the range, helped subdue the Indians, and gun down the bad guys — wore any old shirt they could afford.
It was Jack Weil who conceived of the idea of the cowboy shirt. It was he who thought the American West needed its own style. It was he that put the snaps on a snap shirt.
